I love sharing my passion for learning through tutoring and have been at it for over a decade. My goal isn't just to help students pass a test - it's to build genuine understanding and confidence that carries forward.
My all-time favorite students are those who are stuck in a negative mindset:
"I'm no good at math."
"Chemistry is too hard for me."
I can fully empathize with these students, as I avoided math and science for many years of my life. I can also share my insights and passion for those same topics now that they are among my favorite things!
I understand the frustration of not "getting it" right away because I've been there myself.
There's no one-size-fits-all. If one explanation doesn't click, I'll adapt until we find one that does.
My friendly energy is contagious - I make learning feel natural and even enjoyable.
Over half of my test prep students have a diagnosis that allows for extended time. I've received trainings from multiple LD centers and am continually educating myself to best serve my students.
Detailed progress updates are sent regularly to keep parents up-to-date.
I teach organization, study skills, and learning strategies that extend beyond any single subject.
I take a structured approach to learning while remaining flexible to each student's needs.
Every student learns differently. Some need visual aids, others need hands-on practice, and some just need someone to patiently walk them through concepts step by step. I meet students where they are and adapt my methods to fit how they learn best.
Whether we're working on test prep or everyday academics, I focus on teaching transferable skills: how to approach problems, manage time, stay organized, and believe in their own abilities.
Besides tutoring, I also:
Have a degree in Geology & Secondary Science Education.
Worked as an editor for the Darwin Manuscripts Project at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
Am an educator at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Volunteer with the University of Edinburgh, transcribing the scientific notebooks of Sir Charles Lyell.

Comprehensive support for academic success
ACT, SAT, ISEE, SSAT, and more. Comprehensive preparation with proven strategies that build confidence.
Primarily math and science, but honestly, I've done it all. It works well to switch between whatever subjects are causing stress that week.
